Pikes Peak Healthcare Executives Forum (PPHCEF) Sponsored Events
- Fall '03 Luncheon Meeting: Presentation on HIPAA Security.
- March 27: Smallpox - The Disease and the Threat. Location: Red Lion Hotel, Colorado Springs, CO. Speaker: Larry E. Schaad, DVM, MPH, Chief of Health Systems Development at the El Paso County Department of Health and Environment (EPCDHE), provided an extremely useful talk on a topic of timely importance. Among the topics he covered were the history, epidemiology, diagnosis, vaccination, perceptions, characteristics, transmission, and threat of Smallpox. His knowledge and insightful experiences combined to make for an outstanding event.

Jan 30: Annual Business Meeting. Location: Red Lion Hotel, Colorado Springs, CO. As prescribed in the PPHCEF bylaws, the last meeting of the year (although held in the new year) served as the annual business meeting. In addition to a review of the PPHCEF balance sheet, a couple of important issues were decided at the meeting. Specifically, the election of officers was held. The PPHCEF membership elected the following individuals:
President - Michael Currey
Vice President - Lynda VanDyke
Treasurer - Brian Grassi
Secretary - Kevin Watson
Member-At-Large - Dave McCloy
Member-At-Large - Deborah Nottingham
Also, the membership approved a proposal to transition the PPHCEF from a local ACHE affiliate to a statewide ACHE chapter. Randy Buchnowski gave a presentation, which outlined the specific steps necessary to complete the transition. The next few years will be an exciting time for the PPHCEF as the process is completed. Randy has volunteered to serve as the transition coordinator.
